Ads fund the free tier. Here is exactly how they work and what they will never touch.
What runs where
Free-tier readers see a small number of display ads served by Google advertising services, in fixed slots that never interrupt mid-sentence or disguise themselves as content. Every slot is labeled “Advertisement.” Pro subscribers ($5/month) see no ads and load no ad scripts.
Consent first
Ad scripts load only after you opt in to advertising cookies via the consent banner. Without consent, free readers see unobtrusive placeholder slots, not tracked advertising. Manage this anytime in Account → Settings or read the Cookie Policy.
The wall
Advertisers do not see, approve, or influence editorial content. We do not publish sponsored articles. If that ever changes, sponsored content would be labeled at the top of the page, not in a footnote — and this page would be updated first.
